We investigate the problem of counting 1/16 BPS operators in N=4 Super-Yang-Mills theory at weak coupling. We present the complete set of 1/16 BPS operators in the infinite N limit, which agrees with the counting of free BPS multi-graviton states in the gravity dual AdS5xS5. Further, we conjecture that all 1/16 BPS operators in N=4 SYM are of the multi-graviton form, and give numerical evidences for this conjecture. We discuss the implication of our conjecture and the seeming failure in reproducing the entropy of large 1/16 BPS black holes in AdS5.

  1. The Resolved Elliptic Genus and the D1-D5 CFT

    hep-th 2026-03 unverdicted novelty 8.0

The resolved elliptic genus refines the supersymmetry index for the D1-D5 CFT by summing only over symmetry sectors that mix under a deformed supercharge, yielding agreement with supergravity below the black-hole thre...

  2. Constrained particle on a group: from propagators to correlators

    hep-th 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 7.0

Develops a constrained particle-on-group formulation of super-JT gravity that yields super-Schwarzian actions, physical supercharges, and explicit N=2/N=4 three-point functions plus zero-energy OTOCs.

  3. New Exotic Operators in the Spectrum of Wilson Lines in General Representations

    hep-th 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 7.0

New exotic operators appear on Wilson lines in general representations; their dimension-one superprimaries produce marginally relevant deformations of half-BPS defects in N=4 SYM, supported by a general weak-coupling ...

  4. Fortuity and Complexity in a Simple Quark Model

    hep-th 2026-05 conditional novelty 7.0

In a toy qubit model of quarks, BRST cohomology designates baryons as fortuitous and mesons as monotone, with the former displaying super-exponential complexity and the latter power-law complexity in the Veneziano limit.

  5. Chaos of Berry curvature for BPS microstates

    hep-th 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 7.0

Berry curvature of BPS states is random-matrix-like for supersymmetric black hole microstates but non-random and often zero for horizonless geometries, offering a chaos diagnostic in degenerate sectors.

  6. Two roads to fortuity in ABJM theory

    hep-th 2025-12 unverdicted novelty 7.0

Enumerates 244 fortuitous operators in ABJM theory and identifies a truncation matching the BMN subsector of N=4 SYM to lift an infinite tower of representatives.

  7. Fortuity beyond counting: an explicit construction

    hep-th 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 6.0

Explicit construction of BPS states in (h,j)=(1,0) sector of D1D5 CFT shows non-vanishing three-point coupling between monotone and fortuitous states, indicating the sectors are dynamically connected.

  8. Mass-Flow Invariance of $Q$-Cohomology in BMN Matrix Quantum Mechanics

    hep-th 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 6.0

Q-cohomology in BMN matrix QM is mass-flow invariant via a similarity transformation of the nilpotent supercharge component.

  9. Finite scalar field theory with SU(1,1) spacetime symmetry from near-BPS limits of $\mathcal{N}=4$ SYM

    hep-th 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 6.0

A non-Lorentzian scalar QFT with SU(1,1) symmetry obtained from N=4 SYM is finite at all orders in perturbation theory.

    hep-th 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 6.0

Non-planar corrections lift degeneracies in the spectrum of quarter BPS states in Sym^N(T^4) and introduce level repulsion plus random matrix statistics, showing integrability is restricted to the large N planar limit.

    math.RT 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 6.0

The 3|2 super-Chevalley restriction map fails to be an isomorphism for so(7) due to a non-Cartan class; explicit fortuitous classes counter stable-image expectations for sl(2) and so(7); relative cohomologies of (so7,...

  12. Quantum black hole cohomologies

    hep-th 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 5.0

In SU(2) maximal SYM, certain classical fortuitous cohomologies stay unlifted at one loop while many heavier core ones are lifted, and classical entropy exceeds protected-state entropy by ≥1.2% in the Cardy limit.

In the SU(2) maximal SYM theory, some fortuitous cohomologies are lifted by 1-loop corrections while the lightest and hairy versions are not, yielding at least 1.2% higher entropy for classical cohomologies than for s...
