We examine the linear stability of static, spherically symmetric wormhole solutions of Einstein's field equations coupled to a massless ghost scalar field. These solutions are parametrized by the areal radius of their throat and the product of the masses at their asymptotically flat ends. We prove that all these solutions are unstable with respect to linear fluctuations and possess precisely one unstable, exponentially in time growing mode. The associated time scale is shown to be of the order of the wormhole throat divided by the speed of light. The nonlinear evolution is analyzed in a subsequent article.

  1. Perturbations in the parametrized wormhole spacetime and their related quasinormal modes

    gr-qc 2026-05 conditional novelty 5.0

Observationally constrained galactic wormhole models show quasinormal mode damping rates more sensitive to galactic compactness than deformation parameters, while oscillation frequencies remain comparatively stable.

  2. Late-Time Cosmology and Structure Formation in Quadratic $f(Q)$ Gravity

    physics.gen-ph 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 4.0

Quadratic f(Q) gravity adds an H^4 term to the Friedmann equation and introduces a time-dependent G_eff that suppresses linear growth and halo abundance, offering a modified-gravity route to easing the S8 tension.

  3. Ellis-Bronnikov Wormhole Shadows with Spherically Symmetric Accretion Flow

    gr-qc 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 4.0

GRRT simulations of spherically symmetric accretion show the Ellis-Bronnikov wormhole yields brighter shadow and photon ring than Schwarzschild, both consistent with EHT M87* data.

  4. Testing the nature of dark compact objects: a status report

    gr-qc 2019-04 accept novelty 2.0

Current and future observations can test whether dark compact objects are Kerr black holes or exotic alternatives, with null results strengthening the black hole paradigm.
